Outlook help

My Outlook email is driving me crazy! For the last few months, I have been getting an almost constant pop up box telling me I have too many simultaneous connections.  I am a personal user without a wealth of IT experience so had an IT company in who told me to do a clean up of my system (at some expense.)  This has not fixed it at all and I am starting to go mad!  I am a one-off user with three email accounts within the same Outlook programme.  I only access my emails from my laptop (and occasionally from my phone). I cannot delete the accounts and start again as I have so many folders with saved emails in each account that I would lose if I did. Can you please tell me what I need to do to get rid of this! Thank you
